ARKeX is a geophysical service company that helps explorationists to gain a complete picture and a better understanding of subsurface geology. Through a multi-disciplinary and integrated approach, ARKeX delivers invaluable geological information to oil and gas exploration companies as well as the mining industry. Operating using a variety of techniques, technologies and methodologies, ARKeX provides the answers to meet today’s exploration challenges.

BlueQube

BlueQube surveys provide a high resolution, accurate picture of subsurface geology. Incorporating data from a number of instruments (including Gravity Gradient Imaging (GGI), magnetic gradiometry, digital terrain mapping (LiDAR)/bathemetry, and digital video), BlueQube enhances this data with patented processing, inversion and interpretation services. The key technology in BlueQube is GGI which measures the gradient of the earth’s gravity field, effectively logging density variations in the underlying rocks. From this, a structural geological picture can be determined, which has been used to help with lease decisions, overcoming seismic uncertainty, prospect generation and drilling locations.

Our History

Founded in 2004, ARKeX is a spin out from a collaboration project between Oxford Instruments Superconductors and ARK Geophysics (a specialist in gravity geophysics, who ARKeX later acquired in September 2007). The company was set up to commercialise the idea of a superconductive gravity gradiometer that would give unprecedented sensitivity, resolution and stability and deliver high resolution data to the exploration industry. Between 2002 and 2005, and with early support from Shell, Anadarko Petroleum and Amerada Hess, the value of the technology was proven and ARKeX was formed.

ARKeX soon became fully operational using room temperature gravity gradiometers whilst continuing to develop the in house superconductive Explorational Gravity Gradiometer (EGG). Now with 80 people and offices in Cambridge and Sherington (UK) and Houston (USA), ARKeX continues to grow with customers ranging from small independents to large multi-national oil companies.
